Eta Beta Chapter - PTK

Purpose

The purpose of the Eta Beta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Southwest Texas College shall be the promotion of scholarship, the development of leadership and service, and the cultivation of fellowship among qualified students of this college.

Benefits of membership in the Eta Beta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa include, but are not limited to:

Eligibility

To be eligible for membership, students must meet the following requirements:
  • Minimum of 12 academic hours at SWTX
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA for all academic hours at SWTX
  • Enrolled in minimum 6 academic hours at SWTX
In order to remain a member, students must meet the following requirements:
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Enrolled in minimum 6 hours at SWTX
Student eligibility is determined by advisors on the 12th class day of the Fall and Spring semesters. Eligible students will be invited by chapter by mail and SWTX email.

There is a $75 one-time membership fee.

If you believe you are eligible but have not received an invitation, contact us ASAP.

If you are/were a member in good standing in another chapter, contact us ASAP with your membership ID number. As long as you are/were a member in good standing, we will honor their membership requirements.

Induction

We host two Induction Ceremonies a year, one in the Fall, one in the Spring. Attendance at the ceremony is not required, but is highly encouraged. More information regarding Induction is provided with the invitation and payment letter.

Officers

The Eta Beta chapter has seven officer positions open to members: President, Vice President, Communications & Public Relations Officer, Fundraising & Service Officer, Finance Officer, Parliamentarian, and Vice President of Pre-Collegiate Studies.
