All students who receive academic scholarships at SWTX must maintain "satisfactory grades" in order to continue receiving the scholarships. The term "satisfactory grades" is defined as having a 2.50 cumulative GPA (on a four-point scale) and completing at least twelve semester hours each fall and spring semester. "Satisfactory grades" are defined differently for the following scholarships and a recipient should refer to the scholarship description for the correct definition: Central Power and Light Company, the Rose Koehl Memorial, the Pioneer, the Pioneer for Distinguished SWTX students, and the Vic Leon Tucker Memorial.
A student who receives an academic scholarship must enroll as a full-time student (12 semester credit hours or more) to utilize the award. Scholarships may be awarded on either a multi-semester or semester-by-semester basis, depending on the specific scholarship and available funding. While some awards may be renewed for consecutive long semesters, continuation is not guaranteed and is contingent upon meeting eligibility requirements, maintaining satisfactory academic progress, and the availability of funds. Students who receive multi-semester scholarship awards as entering freshmen may be eligible for up to four consecutive long semesters. Students awarded as first-semester freshmen may be eligible for up to three consecutive long semesters, and those awarded as sophomores may be eligible for up to two consecutive long semesters. All renewals are subject to satisfactory academic performance and institutional review.
All scholarship applications must be submitted online through the AwardSpring platform. Students may access and complete the application by visiting AwardSpring at: https://swtxc.awardspring.com/. Student may use their SWTX Log in and password to access AwardSpring. The priority deadline for fall semester scholarships is April 24th of each year. Students are encouraged to complete their application by this date to be considered for available awards. Students applying through the Scholarship Committee may be awarded only one scholarship per academic year. The available scholarships are listed below, and some awards may be granted to multiple recipients.
