Uvalde, TX, November 6, 2025 - Maria Dube, Human Resources Director at the College, was a guest speaker in Manuel Alejandro’s Business Principles class on Thursday, October 23rd, in Uvalde.
The class is a Distance Education course with connecting sites to the Del Rio and Eagle Pass College Campuses.
During her presentation, Ms. Dube shared valuable insights with the Business students regarding the skills required to be a successful Human Resource Director. She emphasized the importance of:

- The ability to counsel employees
Additionally, she discussed other essential skills for students pursuing a career in Human Resources, including:

- Knowledge of employment laws and organizational policies
- Understanding of compliance and audit reporting
Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, projects a 6% growth in employment for Human Resource Specialists from 2024 to 2034. This increase is driven by the growing need to navigate complex employment laws, manage healthcare options, adapt to evolving work models, and support organizations in achieving their strategic goals.
Her presentation provided students with a deeper understanding of the dynamic and essential role of Human Resource professionals in today’s workplace.
