Start a Pathway Toward an Associate of Science Degree History Field of Study

The History Field of Study (FOS) at SWTX prepares students who are interested in history and transferring to a university.

The Associate of Science degree History FOS includes curriculum approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. The History FOS includes 15 lower-division semester credit hours that are fully transferable to other Texas public colleges and universities.

Students should always consult with an academic or History faculty advisor regarding transfer to a specific college or university. In addition, students should consult with an advisor at the Texas college or university to which they are transferring for additional information.

To receive an Associate of Science Degree History FOS, students must make a minimum grade of C in all required core courses and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

An Associate of Arts Degree from Southwest Texas College provides the foundation for transfer to a university. Completion of a bachelor’s degree with a major in History develops strong critical thinking, communication skills, personal responsibility, and social responsibility skills required in a variety of career settings.
